Priority AXIS II Aquaculture, Processing and Marketing of Fishery and Aquaculture Products

Main Objectives:
  • Maintain freshwater fish production at 20,000 tonnes per year by 2015.
  • Improve the aqua-environment quality in fishponds by 2015 in comparison to 2005. This measure is expected to be implemented over approximately 1,500 hectares of fish ponds.
  • Modernise processing capacities (production plants) to take production to 5,500 tonnes of processed fish or fish products per year in 2015.
  • Increase the number of women employed in fisheries from the current 264 to at least 280 (working conditions for women need to be improved).
